Using the Audio Recorder, you can record your voice, an instrument, or any other sound using the microphone on your iPad, and play it back in GarageBand. You can also record sounds using an external microphone connected to your iPad.
GarageBand User Guide for iPad
You can use GarageBand as a way to record your voice or anything with your Mac's microphone. You can record bits and pieces and rearrange and edit them. You can also overlay tracks. Each track can be altered with editable filters. You can then export your audio as a standard file to share or use.
The Audio Recorder has two sets of controls you can use to change the sound. Fun view lets you quickly change the sound of your recording, while Studio view gives you more options to enhance your recording.

Using Garageband To Record Voice On Ipad 4Adjust the microphone input level
While you record, the In level slider on the left shows the input level from the microphone. If the level turns red, drag the slider down (or record the part again more softly) to prevent distortion.
Oct 18, 2017 Re: Skins, functionalities, move loop, adjust beat-grid by daschuer » Fri Sep 18, 2015 6:54 am In the 1.12 beta phase, the skins are updated whenever a contributor finds time to work on them. Feb 10, 2014 I know some songs have a change in BPM throughout the song. For example, Booyah by Showtek. However even though the beat-grid conforms to the slowing of the song, the BPM indicator does not move. I would like to see a possible update with a flexible BPM indicator, or moving, or however you want to say it. Nov 13, 2017 If you have a first measure/anchor point set then right-clicking on the beatgrid marker button should move the closest beat to the current cursor position and recalculate the BPM (you can get exact BPMs of a track in just three clicks and a little scrolling this way! It needs to be beat and not measure so that it still works with non 4/4 music.). To adjust the beat grid, cue the track before a real beat and click the Beat-grid Adjust button in the Deck Options Button Grid. If the detected BPM is not accurate, the corresponding beat grid will also be inaccurate. A deviation of 0.02 BPM units from the correct BPM will cause beatgrid alignment issues on long tracks (e.g. Click the “Adjust beatgrid” icon in the grid of icons to the right of the overview waveform. This is the bottom left icon in the grid. BPM detection is wrong. Try adjusting the BPM analyzer's range. Go to Options Preferences Beat Detection, adjust the numbers, and press okay. Start mixxx and under settings change your music folder. Traktor beat grid.
Set the input level automatically
When an external microphone or other audio device (such as a headset or an audio interface) is connected to your iPad, the input level can be set automatically.
![]() Reduce unwanted noise
You can use a noise gate to reduce low-level input noise when you record. A noise gate cuts off the sound when it falls below a certain minimum level.
Turn on monitoring for an external microphone
When an external microphone or other audio device (such as a headset or an audio interface) is connected to your iPad, the Monitor button under the Out level slider becomes active.
Change the sound using a preset
The Audio Recorder includes presets that appear after you record a sound. Each preset adds an interesting character to the recorded sound.
You can try out different presets by tapping them and turning the knobs.
Set the key and scale for Extreme Tuning
The Extreme Tuning preset is a popular vocal effect that changes the pitch of your recording based on your song’s key and scale settings.

If the actual key or scale of your song differs from the key or scale setting, the effect might be less pronounced, or might change the pitch of individual notes in undesirable ways.
If you’re a guitarist who’s just getting started with GarageBand and are dying to jump in a start recording, you may be overwhelmed with the different gear options available to you.
While many would argue that the only way to accurately capture an electric guitar performance is by mic’ing up your amplifier and hitting record, in my latest video I share 3 ways that you can directly input your guitar into your Mac so that you can record it in GarageBand.
Directly inputting (or ‘DI-ing’) your instrument in this way gives you more control over how your recording sounds if you choose to use Garageband’s built in amp designer and/or Audio Unit plug ins.
